How Do I Post Without Being There to Post?
Next month, I'll be out of town for a solid week and a half. Even though it's incredible difficult to just not work, sometimes a break is needed.
The truth is, everyone goes on vacation. For me, since almost my entire job is social media, I like to spend my vacation unplugged with a heaping helping of nachos and beer. However, this doesn't mean I can just neglect the accounts I manage - that would be inconsistent and unprofessional. So here are some tips on planning and scheduling content ahead of time so you can actually enjoy your vacation.
Utilize Your Content Calendar
If you didn't read my initial organization post, here it is.
If you're like me, you often find yourself too busy sit down and just plan content for a couple of hours at the beginning of the month. But if you're going to be out of town, you kind of just have to suck it up and make time to do it. In the weeks leading up to your vacation, it might be best to just do a little at a time. Having a content calendar handy will help with the flow and theme continuity. Plus it's always nice to actually see that your days off are covered.
Use a Scheduling App
Clearly, I really like Hootsuite. I mention them in almost all of my blog posts because it is seriously my favorite content scheduler and is just helpful in so many ways. The best part about it is definitely the scheduling, though. The interface is simple and it's pretty reliable. Even if you don't trust it, you can set up email alerts for when your content is posted.
If It's Your First Time, Don't Be Afraid to Ask for Help!
Sometimes, you just aren't confident in what you're doing. And that's okay! I am fortunate enough to have very supportive bosses and coworkers who just want me to succeed. If you need another page admin to post your flyer, just ask them! I can almost guarantee that they'd rather take thirty seconds to copy and paste your caption and attach your finished design than have a) no content posted for a few days, and b) missed sales opportunities.
Try to Relax
There will always be a time when you find yourself on vacation worrying about work stuff. It happens. Just take a deep breath, sip your Coronarita, and remember that you planned ahead.
Sharing is Caring
If you have any thoughts or feedback or extra knowledge, share it in the comments. The whole point of this blog is to help each other figure it all out!
